Fall
is for planting bulbs!
It may be too soon to
plant them, but now is the time to purchase your
spring blooming bulbs, and start preparing your
beds for planting them.
Our selection is limited,
so hurry in to ensure you get your
favorites!

Did you know that it's
possible to have 100 days of color with your
bulbs? It's true! Just plan your bulb garden
with a variety of bulbs; carefully selecting
bulbs that will bloom early in the season, some
bulbs that will bloom mid-season, and some that
will bloom late in the season. Planning your
bulb garden does not have to be an exact
science, but if you would like some assistance
in designing the garden or selecting your bulbs,
we'd be more than happy to help!

Bulbs to get more information on how to
prepare your beds, storing and planting your

Plan
your fall planting
Fall is an excellent time to plant trees
and shrubs too! Because the temperatures are a
little more mild, and the plants are going into
dormancy, there is less risk of transplant shock
for the tree - and heat stroke for you!
Your garden is at it's fullest right now,
so it's a great time to evaluate the overall
look of your yard and the curb appeal of
your home. Decide where you need to add
trees and shrubs, then come into the garden
center with some photos and we'll help you
decide what to plant in that spot. If you're not
sure where to start, or where the trees and/or
shrubs should go, take some photos and bring
those in along with a sketch or plan of your
yard. One of our expert and knowledgeable sales
people will be happy to assist you in selecting
the right plants, and the right places to put
them! | |

Seasonal
Reminders
1.
Deadhead perennials. As summer
is in "full swing", most of your perennials
should be blooming in abundance. In order to
keep them blooming as late into fall as
possible, deadhead spent blooms on perennials
and annuals. Deadheading is a simple process,
and gives you an opportunity to investigate each
plant for bugs or diseases, and analyze your
garden or containers for any changes that will
need to be made for next season.
2.
Keep birds safe. Change water
daily and clean birdbaths regularly during the
heat of summer, where bacteria can spread
quickly. Use a 10% bleach solution and scrub
clean. Also be mindful of other areas where
water collects.
3.
Feed the hummingbirds!
Hummingbirds are all about town this time of
year! Pick up plenty of feeders and specialty
hummingbird food. (They require a special, high
sugar content food to maintain their energy.)
The sun can spoil hummingbirds' food and make it
toxic, so hummingbird food should be changed out
every couple of days in order to keep them
safe. | |
