Brendan's Picks for Early Spring

Forsythia - Oleaceae
Deciduous shrub
Full sun
Moderate to regular water
3 to 6 feet height, 2 to 4 feet width
Blooms late winter/early spring and has branches covered with yellow flowers.
Rest of the growing season forsythia has medium green rounded foliage on branches.
Great when used as a background shrub or screen.
Prune after blooming. Remove oldest branches and dead wood.
When forsythia begins to bloom, it is time to prune around the yard (wait a few more weeks for roses).
Pests – thrip, aphids, fungus.
